Product Overview
The Ion Endoluminal System is a robotic-assisted bronchoscopy platform designed to enable minimally-invasive biopsy of peripheral lung nodules that are beyond the reach of conventional bronchoscopes. It features an ultra-thin 3.5 mm catheter with fiber-optic shape sensing technology that navigates deep into the peripheral airways with exceptional stability and precision. Using CT-based 3D pathway planning, physicians create a virtual route to the target nodule before the procedure, then guide the robotic catheter along that pathway during bronchoscopy. The real-time shape sensing continuously tracks the catheter's exact position and curvature inside the lung, providing unprecedented visibility and control during navigation. With the ability to reach up to the 9th generation of airways, Ion enables diagnosis of small, peripheral lung lesions that would otherwise require more invasive surgical biopsy approaches. The system's enhanced catheter stability maintains precise positioning during tissue sampling, improving diagnostic yield for early-stage lung cancer detection. For pulmonologists and patients alike, Ion represents a major advancement in robotic pulmonary diagnostics and early lung cancer diagnosis.
